Flights Booked (CHEAP!)-> Here's How!

+ Southwest with new updates to know about

Good morning ☀️ from Booked It On Points: A curated collection of travel tips and personal stories by me, Allie→ because you’re meant to experience meaningful travel no matter life’s constraints 👊🏽

Let’s dive in.

✈︎ Travel Story

Family of 4→ Tickets to Greece for 50k points TOTAL 🤯

You may know, we’re currently living in Uruguay for 3 months with our kids while they attend a world school program. I mean check out this school! Talk about dreamy.

It’s a wild ride that has us moving every 3 months to a new country and so we’re always looking ahead at just the right time to book our flights because let’s be honest, this much travel adds up quick.

Lucky for us, I scored BIG TIME on our next location- Greece—and I’m excited to share how we did it for just 50, 000 points + $472 for our family of four.

That’s not a typo. Four tickets to Europe, paid for with points. 🥳 It’s the only way we (can afford to) travel.

We’ll be flying from Washington, D.C. (IAD) to Athens (ATH) in September when the weather is still beautiful but the crowds start to thin 🙌

Here’s exactly how we booked it—and how you can, too.

Step 1: Found Flights Using PointsYeah

If you know me, you knows I always start here→ PointsYeah. I found a one-stop flight with Air France/KLM Flying Blue for 18,750 points in economy.

But here’s where it gets even better…

Step 2: Kids Fly for 20% Fewer Miles

Did you know? Flying Blue offers a 20% discount on award flights for kids under 12something not enough people know about! But the reason we fly most often with with these guys.

So for our family of 4:

  • 2 adults at 18,750 miles = 37,500 miles

  • 2 kids at 18,750 miles (25% off) = 28,126 miles

  • Total needed: 65,626 Flying Blue miles aka: transferable points from Capital One, Chase and Amex- doesn’t get easier than that.

Step 3: Save EVEN MORE Points→ Chase 25% Transfer Bonus (Ends May 31!)

Right now, Chase is offering a 25% transfer bonus to Flying Blue. That means for every 1,000 Chase points you transfer, you get 1,250 Flying Blue miles. See for yourself:

So instead of transferring 65,626 Chase points, we only had to transfer just 49,220 Chase points 🙌 Excuse me, come again?!

That’s a huge win for anyone sitting on Chase Ultimate Rewards. (And this bonus ends May 31, so time’s ticking.)

Step 4: Book It!

Always remember: double check the flight exists on the airline’s website before transferring your points:

Always check the actual website before transferring points!

After it’s confirmed, you can transfer from the bank to your loyalty account.

Once our points landed in our Flying Blue account, I booked our flights directly on AirFrance.us. The final out-of-pocket cost? Just $472 total in taxes and fees for all four of us.

This is one of those bookings that makes me EXTRA grateful we prioritize points and miles.
